Derby's Community Directory: built with partners, owned by the community
How Active Partners Trust created a single community directory for Derby with local partners, and extended it to Erewash.
The challenge
Derby did not have a single community directory. Active Partners Trust wanted to develop one collaboratively, so that the directory would be owned by the partners who contribute to it and not by Active Partners Trust alone.
Why Nautoguide
Active Partners Trust knew of Nautoguide's work with the OpenActive and Open Referral UK data standards, and invited several suppliers to respond to a short brief. Nautoguide were selected for proposing a collaborative approach.
What Nautoguide delivered
Nautoguide built Derby's Community Directory (derbycity.locaria.org) on Locaria. The service includes:
- a full community directory, organised as “Support that can help me”, “Things I can do” and “Places I can go”
- partner and administrator access, so that organisations across many disciplines maintain their own listings
- search by location and keyword, bookmarks, and a tool for submitting leaflets and posters
- Erewash Connected (erewash.locaria.org), a sub-local version cloned quickly from the Derby directory
How we worked
The directory is in pilot. Nautoguide have worked alongside Active Partners Trust and its partners throughout, with the patience to let the service grow at the partners' pace and the flexibility to adapt it as their needs have become clearer.
